He was from the generation that lived through the closure of Greek schools by the Italians and experienced firsthand the deaths and destruction caused by the WWII in Karpathos. But he was also from the generation that saw freedom embracing Karpathos and integrating with Mother Greece. He was a key player and captain of \u201cProteas\u201d football team. But in the early 1960s he immigrated to America, where he continued his studies and then ventured into the restaurant business. He opened at least four Diners and Restaurants in New Jersey, offering work to dozens of our countrymen who treated with love, prudence and interest.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>As a sociable and philanthropic person, he got involved in the Karpathian associations. At the beginning he served as president of the \u201cOmonoia\u201d Association of Aperitifs, and then he became active with the Karpathian Federation and the Pan-Karpathian Foundation, where he served in various positions. These two organizations used the halls of the Cedars Restaurant in Elizabeth NJ free of charge for meetings and other events.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>He was one of the founding members and one of the most ardent supporters of the Pan-Karpathian Foundation and the creation of the \u201cKarpathian Home\u201d. Among others, he was a member of the Pan-Karpathian committee for the election of Michalis Doukakis. In addition to his own generous contribution, for the same purpose, he collected significant sums of money from relatives and friends.
