class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong><em>By Manolis Cassotis<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">With this 10<sup>th<\/sup>&nbsp;publication we continue with Karpathian couplets that the passage of time does not erase and are kept alive.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cGoddess, sing the anger \u2026\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">With the \u201cGoddess, sing the anger \u2026\u201d &nbsp;begins the Iliad where \u201caoidos\u201d (classical Greek singer) praises the anger of Achilles. Anger or \u201cmanita\u201d, as Kazantzakis translates it, is not missing from the traditional songs of Karpathos.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Upon a time in a village of Karpathos there was a conflict between two families that did not want to be forgotten. But after 20 years there was a relatives wedding of both families, where, despite their anger, both families had to attend.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The marriage ceremony was over, and the guests went to the churchyard where they were served the wedding food followed by the customary \u2018seated feast\u2019, during which traditional couplets were sung before the dancing began.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Someone from the side of one of the families, remembering the old differences and influenced by the \u201cunbridled wine\u201d, sang a couplet referring to the discord that separated the two families.
