passage of time does not erase and are kept alive.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>\u201cAchilles: Do not wish to console me for my death, brave Odysseus.\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>From time immemorial, various religions and cultures have dealt with death. In Egypt they built pyramids for the afterlife of the pharaohs, and the Greek mythology created god of the underworld, and when Odysseus visited Hades and wanted to console Achilles for his death, he replied that he would rather be a plain worker on Earth rather than lord in the world of the dead.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In Canada, near the North Pole, was a tribe of Eskimos who before the onset of winter would move south and return after the end of winter, and as they had no means of transporting those who could not walk, they had trouble traveling from north to south. They had to choose between the elderly, small children and newborns. Difficult choice, but the survival of the tribe was paramount. The elderly who could not walk were left behind to die.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Fortunately, in Karpathos there was no such option, its inhabitants lived permanently in the village where they were born and, according to local custom, when the elderly could not take care of themselves their first-born children or their heirs took care of them. There they met death in a familiar and peaceful environment.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>No luck, death came first.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>But many times, unpredictable epidemics and lack of medical care caused the death of even children as they used to say: \u201cI saw an old priest, burying a small child\u201d. It was particularly heartbreaking when \u201csome wild storm came,\u201d and, so unexpectedly, someone died in the prime of life.
