Thus, reading Frixos Vozos\u2019 book \u201cMy Mantinades\u201d, the language of his soul opens, telling the story of the birth of a child, followed by the celebration that come on his \u201cSeven\u201d day, baptism, childhood and school years, living abroad, marriage, the birth of children and reaching even grandchildren.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>When a Karpathian takes the road to a foreign land, he carries with him his cultural heritage. That is why in America, on Sunday, March 29, the book presentation of Frixos Vozos book \u201cMy Mantinades\u201d, with the subtitle \u201cThe Language of My Soul, Taken from My Karpathian Heritage\u201d, took place. In the packed hall of the church of St. Demetrius in Union NJ, in addition to the Karpathians, several Greeks from the diaspora also attended.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The master of ceremonies for the program was Manolis Vozos, son of Frixos, who conducted it with the well-known mastery that distinguishes him. Fani Vozos also took care to print in leaflets, which she distributed, the mantinades that would be recited in Greek and a translation into English, for those who did not know Greek.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The event began with a greeting from teacher Mata Agriantoni, director of the Greek school of the Community of St. Demetrius. This was followed by an explanation from Stelios Bertou, how and why the book was written. Fragitsa Bertou analyzed not only the literary but also the philosophical value of the Karpathian mantinada.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Afterwards, there were recitations of selected and characteristic mantinades from the book by: Kalliopi Mikros, Kokona Halkia, Sofia Bertou, Georgia Hristodoulaki, Minas Lignos, Popi Pilides, Sofia Logotheti, Anita Vozou-Toumara, Maria Athanasiou Diakou, Fani Vozou, Manolis D. Hrysos.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Also, Georgia Christodoulaki and Sofia Diakou-Bertou composed and recited mantinades dedicated to Frixos. Nikos Papageorgiou from Kasos, a writer and mantinades composer, sent mantinades dedicated to Frixos and the event. George Lyristis, in turn, musically composed the mantinades contained in the book, dedicated to \u201c200 years of freedom\u201d, which he presented in a recording.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The event closed with thanks from the book\u2019s author.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Those in attendance were offered traditional food, sweets and refreshments, and a \u201cDoor Prize\u201d raffle was held under the supervision of Georgia Vozos-Buley.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The entire event was videotaped by Nick Mike Hiras.
