He was from the generation that experienced the closure of the Greek schools by the Italians and experienced firsthand the deaths and destruction caused by WWII in Karpathos. But he was also from the generation that saw freedom embrace Karpathos and integrate with Mother Greece. He was also from the same generation that, after so many struggles and hardships, faced the future with optimism, and with much effort and hard work, achieved greatness.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u0386\u03bd\u03b8\u03c1\u03c9\u03c0\u03bf\u03b9\u03ba\u03b1\u03b9 \u03ba\u03bf\u03b9\u03bd\u03c9\u03bd\u03af\u03b1<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Peter Filax, the third son of George Skevophylax and Kalliopi Mina Economidis (Ganakas), was born in Karpathos in 1932. In 1943, when the Germans came to Karpathos, he moved to Volada with his mother and brother Minas. In the middle of the second-row Peter Felix (just arrived from America), with Poseidon\u2019s team, 1956.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">After the Germans allow the opening of the Greek schools, Peter attended the primary school of Volada where he heard his first Greek lessons. The following year, after the arrival of the English, he attended the primary school of Pigadia, and then the middle school of Aperi. In 1946 he moved to Rhodes, near his uncle, doctor John Economides, and attended the Commercial School of Rhodes from which he graduated with honors.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Peter also distinguished himself for his athletic achievements. He was distinguished for his speed, and participated in the Panhellenic Games, representing the Dodecanese, taking part in the 100 meters run. Although young, he was one of the key players of the socker Poseidon\u2019s team in Karpathos, as well as Diagoras, after moving to Rhodes.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u03a0\u03b1\u03c1\u03b1\u03bb\u03af\u03b5\u03c2\u03ba\u03b1\u03b9 \u03bd\u03b7\u03c3\u03b9\u03ac<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">After completing his studies, Peter immigrated to America, and for three years he served in the US Marine Corps in Korea. After his discharge, returning to America, Peter devoted himself to restaurant business, especially Diners. Among others, he opened nine restaurants and Diners. Peter was distinguished for his generosity. At the same time, he was also involved in sports, undertaking the reorganization of Poseidon\u2019s socker team. However, where he excelled was his contribution to churches and chapels, as a member of Evangelista\u2019s ecclesiastical committee. The works he left in the monasteries of the Holy Mother in Larniotissa and of Saint Sunday speak for themselves.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Peter, through his marriage to Evangelia Cassotis, had two children, who left them with five grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Unforgettable Peter, in your passing from this life you left much to be imitated and set as example.
